Ann Douglas thanks MoniquePeterborough New Democrats welcomed Hamilton MPP Monique Taylor at the Lions Centre potluck on Sunday, November 18, before convening for their Annual General Meeting.

Taylor, who holds the critic portfolio for Children and Youth Services, spoke about how disappointed she was about the shutting down of the Queen's Park legislature, which stalled important bills, including her own initiative to allow the Ontario Ombudsman oversight to investigate Children's Aid Societies. She urged everyone to tell our Liberal MPP to get back to work and to pressure his government to return to the legislature.

On a brighter note, Taylor joined Peterborough New Democrats in recognizing new recipients of Ontario NDP Lifetime Memberships. Congratulations to Jim Abel, George and Helen Allen, Charlene Avon, Peter Barron, John Brewin, Karen Hicks, Martin Higgs, Lynn Hopkins, Alan Glen Jackson, Kathryn Langley, Kathleen March, Alan and Linda Slavin and Jacqueline Todd.

AGM business included the adoption of amendments to By-law 2 of the Federal and Provincial Constitutions, and the election of a new Federal and Provincial Riding Executive and Provincial Delegates. Dave Nickle thanked outgoing president Mike Epp for his three years of exemplary leadership. Mike will be replaced by our new president, Autumn Corvus.
